ELECTROLINE RELEASES ITS NEW PROMOTION SCHEDULING SOFTWARE: EPSS

Headend software provides cable operators with another tool to help increase revenue

Montreal, Canada - January 10, 2005 - Electroline Equipment Inc. has released the first version of Electroline Promotion Scheduling Software (EPSS), the latest edition to its addressable product line.

This new software application is designed to manage promotional events and control the status of addressable taps that allow or deny access to cable TV programming. It is used along with a control unit to send commands to set the status of a subscriber via the addressable tap to allow access on a limited basis until the end of the promotional event. It can be applied to individual subscribers or a defined group(s) of addressable tap ports. At the end of the promotional event, the software resets all of the concerned subscribers and potential new subscribers to their pre-promotion status.

As a web-based application, it allows logged-in users to remotely create and schedule promotions from any location. EPSS can also generate detailed reports showing past, present and future promotions, as well as run tests for troubleshooting purposes.

“A promotional event is a very effective tool to entice viewers to subscribe to the cable service that is being promoted,” explained Jay Staiger, Marketing Director for Electroline Equipment Inc. “However, without the ability to perform this scheduling remotely, the costs associated with truck rolls for service installation can be prohibitively expensive. The features provided by EPSS and the other components of our addressable tap system, such as the Ultima Series addressable tap and CAT addressable splitter, make it easy to use promotional events to increase subscriber revenue and profits.”
