Electroline Addressable System Control Unit IV Application Diagrams

Diagram 1: CUIV application with the Electroline Addressable System (Subscriber Tier Management):

When used in conjunction with the Electroline Addressable System, the Control Unit remotely switches the addressable taps located in the field according to the status it receives from the billing system. The Control Unit stores the status for each subscriber and transmits it on a control carrier with all other downstream cable signals.

Diagram 2: CUIV application with the CLEARPathTM Ingress Management Solution (Return Path Management):

When used in conjunction with Locator software, the Control Unit remotely switches addressable CPMs (CLEARPath modules) and TPS (Test Point Selectors) according to the status it receives from the control software. The Control Unit encodes the software’s commands and transmits them to the TPS or CPMs in order to control the return path. The Control Unit’s carrier is in the forward path, thus ensuring remote control of the modules even if the return path needs to be cut off during network repairs.
