The SuperTap Agile (STT-AGL) addressable tap provides all the advantages of Electroline's original addressable SuperTap such as on/off switching of cable signals and remote management capabilities, with the addition of a single, agile FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) data carrier. A single data carrier utilizes less of the RF spectrum than that of dual FSK technology, simplifying the allocation of bandwidth.
The agile nature of this technology facilitates the carrier frequency selection thus making it easier to implement addressable taps into existing cable networks. Electroline's Addressable System Control Unit IV works remotely to control the SuperTaps and can reassign the data carrier to a new frequency, eliminating the requirement for modification of the units in the field. If there is no data carrier at the assigned frequency, the SuperTap can automatically search out and lock onto its data carrier.
Cable systems already deploying Electroline's addressable taps can implement the STT-AGL taps by installing a Data Repeater in the headend to convert the dual FSK data carrier into a single FSK data carrier. The 2 systems are compatible and will not increase the bandwidth required.
